May 26' Recap

Since school let out for the summer, I haven't had access to as big of a space, so my work has downsized a bit.  While I do miss working on really large pieces, the smaller, more personal pieces I’ve been working on have really captured my attention.

I've been trying to keep the ball rolling on a few of my in progress paintings that I started as side projects over the last few months.  And a few pieces have been started that I am really excited about.  My partner has very kindly offered to model for a few of my newer projects and I know that it may be a bias but those pieces are some of my favorites.  Since I am familiar with figure work, I'm really able to have fun with colors and I’m also slowly working different environments into them.  I have plans to slowly build up a series of figure work with bright colors that feel dreamy and homey.

With the space limitations, I’ve been trying to work with mediums that fit the scale a bit better.  I’ve been really enjoying my travel size Winsor & Newton watercolor kit (I’ve linked below the one that I use, I highly recommend it!).  It has definitely been a bit of a learning curve but fun none the less.  The paintings I’ve made with them are mostly smaller ones that I intend on turning into sticker designs in the future.

I'm hoping that the smaller space limitation is only temporary, but even if it is for a longer time, I will still be able to experiment with consistently smaller pieces, different mediums, and different subject matter.

Progress on a painting that I've been wanting to make for two years

Potential sticker designs for the future
